4 Must Have Skills for Leaders to Manage Change

In my last post, we discussed about 3 different skills that every Manager must have. However, we are going to look at a different perspective. Management always wants to have some sort of change in whether it is on policy or simply, the relationship between its employees and the employers. In the article that has the same name as the title that is seen above these words, written by H. James Dallas. He says that most of the time, changes in a business often fail. However, there are 4 things to keep in mind in order to have a successful change.

1. Listen to the front-line people. These people work and deal with costumers almost, if not, all the time. These people tend to know exactly what is going on with the business in terms of, costumer service, product quality, service quality, etc. Most of the time, these employees often have the answer to why something is wrong the business.

2. Play the politics of change. Make change a priority. If everyone were to listen to everyones opinions and ideas, change may occur.

3. Know the organizational priorities. Even the author says it, it is often the hardest thing on the list to  even consider doing. Because, it often requires people to align and have trust. Also, because a business have objectives, sometimes change is often not easy, because some changes require to give up the objective.

4. Have the ability to preserver. it is simple to say that you will make change. However, its more easier said than done. The future of your job or even the company often depends on the decisions you make. If one is persistent enough, one will do well and maintain the company on course.
