Employer's Responsibilities in a Working Environment

In a work place, safety is the number one concern in any work place. Employers have to have that in mind, especially if they are running the company or business or even a shift.  The rule for employers is, according to OSHA, "The OSH Act gives workers the right to safe and healthful working conditions. Employees have rights in a work place, especially when it comes to safety".  In order to obtain a state of safety in a work place, here are some of the important responsibilities that employers must follow, according to the official OSHA website: https://www.osha.gov/as/opa/worker/employer-responsibility.html;

  • Provide a workplace free from serious recognized hazards and comply with standards, rules and regulations issued under the OSH act.
  • Use color codes, posters, labels or signs to warn employees of potential hazards
  • Must provide safety training in a language and vocabulary workers can understand.
  • Keep records of work-related injuries and illnesses. (Note: Employers with 10 or fewer employees and employers in certain low-hazard industries are exempt from this requirement)
  • Correct cited violations by the deadline set in the OSHA citation and submit required abatement verification documentation
  • Not discriminate against employees who exercise their rights under the Act.

Just inform, it is important in a work place, that safety is a primary concern and should be taken care of on the up-most importance. And not doing so, will be disastrous to the company and the people involved.
